STEAM Days

Team Appreciate recognized a gap in our district’s elementary curriculum: there were limited opportunities for young students to pursue robotics. To resolve this, we began hosting annual STEAM Days, robotics workshops across all 6 elementary schools in our district. In the past three years alone, we’ve reached and inspired over 1,100 kids!

Sumo Bots

Students use LEGO Spike Kits to design robot attachments, such as shields, and compete in fast-paced "sumo" robotics battles. They use their robot to try and push opponents off a circular arena, fine-tuning their attachments to help them outlast others.

Sphero Bots

Students are introduced to Spheros, spherical robots controlled through their iPads. They collaborate to build a maze using blocks and then program the robot to navigate through it, using their creativity to make it through the challenge.
